Updates from the chapter
This is the housing we so desperately need in Hampton roads! YIMBY and the urbanism movement is so much more than just housing, it’s quality of life, financial resiliency and sustainability! Beautiful places and buildings are the best way we can achieve all three! @Cobylefko
We’ve got another meet up coming up and We have been working on some programming for the Fall that could be more educational! I will keep everyone posted! https://t.co/pXDjr8CxyK
Hey everyone! Our chapter now has a newsletter that will be sent out on Fridays and I would love for you to sign up and stay in the loop of what’s going on and get great recommendations for educational resources as well! Link here and in bio! https://t.co/s0dhie643s
Let’s improve our bus and bike networks and build some affordable car free housing!!!
YIMBY HRVA unequivocally supports biking and pedestrian infrastructure investments! We have to prioritize the safety of people on foot, mobility devices, bikes and those using one of these methods in connection to transit. I’m thinking we ought to start treating this as a crisis!

Say it louder for the people in the back ABUNDANT HOUSING IS AFFORDABLE HOUSING @yimbyaction
Imagine if we repurposed space for cars and turned it over to people, green infrastructure, and nature and then allow more people to live around these great amenities…. Join the YIMBY movement if this sounds like a good idea to u!!
Just a PSA Hampton Roads and Richmond can and should be considered part of the megalopolis… if we build HSR between Norfolk and Richmond and onto DC this region would be unstoppable! It’s insane we haven’t done it yet!
They say high prices are the desire path for density. People want to live at the beach and the bay and it’s time we let them!! https://t.co/H7r4bt3OX7
Our first meet up was a success! Nearly 30 people from across the region came out to meet and talk about housing, transit and other key issues! I am so inspired by how many people showed up to support this movement! @yimbyaction https://t.co/MaLyGOCXyc
Events
Who we're endorsing
How we work
Reform the rules
Back zoning reform and streamlined permitting so more homes are legal to build, especially near transit and jobs.
Educate & engage
Turn out residents to the meetings that matter and make it easy to take a pro-housing position on local projects.
Build partnerships
Work with neighbors, labor, faith groups, and builders toward a shared abundant-housing agenda.
YIMBY Hampton Roads is a chapter of YIMBY Action.
One of the local groups organizing for more homes across the country, backed by the national team.
